Welcome to HvidovreBibliotekerne

You don't have to be a Danish citizen to borrow books from HvidovreBibliotekerne, all you need is to have a fixed address in Denmark.

But you can borrow many more items than books, we have CDs, magazines, movies, CD-ROMs ect.

If you want to, you can use the libraries for much more than just borrowing items. Read newspapers, look at exibitions or take part in one of our events. We also have PCs you can use to e-mail, chat, write or surf the Internet.

The libraries can be used free of charge.

Please read Regulations for Hvidovre Libraries for more information.

Regulations for Hvidovre Libraries

How to borrow?

Children under the age of 15 must have their parents' signature to get a library card.
Adults use their "sygesikringsbevis" (medical card) as library card.
If you don't have a medical card, you have to produce some other valid identification.
Special rules apply to firms and institutions. Please ask at the desk.
The library card/medical card is personal, and you have to present it when borrowing.
You are responsible for all the items you have borrowed.
Please contact the library if your card is stolen or lost and we will block the card in order to avoid abuse.
Always let the library know if you change your address or e-mail.

Loans and returns

The loan period normally is one month.
In case of items particularly in demand, the library may establish a shorter loan period and limit the number you are allowed to borrow.
Deadline for return is printed on your receipt.
All your loans must be registered in the library's online system before you leave the library.
The library's items are secured from theft.

Renewals

Normally you may renew your loans five times, if the items are not reserved.
You can renew items in the library or by phone. Items from Hvidovre Libraries can also be renewed on the library's homepage, www.hvidovrebib.dk.
Here you need to use your PIN number.
